The CPSIA mandates safety standards for children’s products with respect to lead, phthalates, choking hazards, and tracking labels. The FDA regulates products that come into contact with food and/ or liquid intended for human consumption. This includes mugs, cups, and food containers. Prop 65 regulates over 850+ chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Product(s) intended for distribution within California must comply with Prop-65. This legislation limits the amount of lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chromium in packaging or packaging materials used or sold within 19 U.S. States. States including Illinois, Maine, Washington, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, and many more all have different and unique regulations for the presence of certain chemicals in consumer products. These include country/region specific legislation (CE/EU directives REACH, and RoHS).
